OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Salem Baptist Church is feeding the community while keeping them warm.

They held a drive-thru giveaway, handing out boxes filled with food and winter gear. They partnered with Hy-Vee and the Omaha Community Economic Development Corporation which donated pantry items such as soups, crackers and pasta.

Church members donated gloves and hats. Coordinator Tammy Brown said these drives are a great way to show love.

“Jesus said feed my sheep, and that is what we’re doing today,” Brown said. “We’re feeding the sheep, we’re also showing the love of Christ. That’s what we’re here as a church, to be a light in the community and so it’s our responsibility to in these times to help where we can."

They were able to help about 400 people on Saturday. They will be holding a holiday themed drive next month.
