The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners during its Tuesday meeting unanimously passed a resolution seeking some control over Highway 370 in hopes of adding traffic signals to the problematic roadway.
Now, they wait to see whether state will accept.
Local officials say that's unlikely, citing state protocols — if they approve Sarpy County’s request, others will want to have authority over other roads and highways.
Still, they remain hopeful the resolution will at least get their foot in the door to get the state to quickly add more lights along a much-needed stretch of Highway 370.
"It's a very dangerous highway; 370 is meant for signals," commissioner Jim Warren said Monday.
