Scooter's Coffee continues to expand during pandemic

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The pandemic is proving difficult for many businesses, but some are still doing well.

That includes coffee shops, like Scooter’s, which is expanding to 132nd and West Dodge.

Scooter’s Coffee is based in Nebraska and has nearly 300 locations across the U.S. The company attributes much of its success during a pandemic to its popular drive-thru service that is COVID-19 friendly.

The news location opened with all the fanfare expected for a new business: a ribbon-cutting and the friendly mascots.

When having a cup of coffee at a Scooter’s you are actually supporting farmers. They source directly with small independent farmers, cutting out the need for a middle man.

Scooter's buys from what is known as micro-milled farms — family-oriented farms that handle all of the processing of coffee on-site. There are no big factories and there is a special touch with every cup served.

Scooter’s is considered one of the fastest-growing drive-thru coffee franchises and their farmers still harvest their beans, 100% by hand.

Even with this new shop, they still have room to expand, particularly over in Iowa with lots of open territory.
