Second Douglas County flu death reported

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A second influenza-related death in someone over 65-years-old has been reported by the Douglas County Health Department (DCHD).

Nebraska is one of 25 states experiencing high levels of flu activity.

The DCHD says Douglas County continues to experience extremely high levels with 898 lab-confirmed cases reported last week.

A total of 3,301 lab-confirmed cases have been reported this season.

Influenza B is continuing to increase with 385 cases reported last week.

The DCHD stresses that it's not too late to get vaccinated and vaccination is the best way to reduce risk from flu and its complications.
