Severe storms are moving across the Kansas state line into southeastern Nebraska
UPDATE: 8:25 p.m.- The severe storms have stayed away from the Omaha metro. While no severe storms appear to be currently headed toward the Omaha metro, the area could still see some strong thunderstorms later this evening with heavy rain, small hail and gusty winds. Stay with KMTV for the latest weather conditions.
UPDATE: 7:56 p.m.- National Weather Service has removed Gage and Lancaster counties from the tornado watch. Other affected areas remain in the watch until 9 p.m.
UPDATE: 7:08 p.m.- National Weather Service removes Johnson and Pawnee counties from tornado watch. Watch continues for other affected areas until 9 p.m..
UPDATE: 6:36 p.m.- The severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Saline, northwestern Gage and southwestern Lancaster counties expired at 6:30. The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits and moved out of the warned area.
UPDATE 6:15 p.m. -The severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Jefferson and
Gage counties has expired. The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits. Several counties in southeast Nebraska including Lancaster, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Pawnee, Seward, and York remain under a tornado watch until 9 p.m.
UPDATE: 6:06 p.m.- The severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Jefferson county
is canceled. The severe thunderstorm which prompted the warning has moved out of
the warned area.
UPDATE: 5:53 p.m.- Eastern Saline, northeastern Jefferson, northwestern Gage and southwestern Lancaster counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:30 p.m. A severe storm located near Wilber, 16 miles northwest of Beatrice was moving north at 35 mph. Radar indicated the storm packed golf ball sized hail and 60 mph winds
KMTV Weather Alert radar shows strong to severe thunderstorms moving through the Beatrice area. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for southeast Jefferson and southern Gage counties until 6:15 p.m. At 5:38, a severe thunderstorm was located near Odell, 16 miles south of Beatrice moving north at 40 mph. The public reported two inch hail with this storm.
