Snowy day creates fun activities for Omahans

Posted

Many schools remain closed for the Winter break and that means many people had the day off. In west Omaha some took advantage of the free time by getting out of the house to have some fun.

Lake Zorinski was a popular place Monday as dozens of people …

Makenna Petersen and her friend Maddie Eppler wanted an adreline rush to heat them up on this snow day.

“We always like sledding since we were little so it's really fun to do it together,” said Eppler.

They braved the cold and wind and went sledding down a hill on Lake Zorinski.

“Anything could happen your sled could flip over and roll down the hill or something like that or hills is fun,” said Eppler.

On another snowy hill are Chelsey Haug and her three little sisters, “Nothing else to do, sledding I guess, perfect day to do it.”

Haug said typically when it snow her family like to build a snowman, “But this isn't snowman material so we got to go sledding.”

For snow lovers this was a white wonderland playground.

“I like it, I was wishing it was the original forecast where we were getting a foot but a half-foot is okay too,” said Tod Brockley.

Brockley was getting a workout around Lake Zorinsky riding his fat-tire bike, It's tough, the snow is drifting in places and that's kind of tough getting through sometimes, but otherwise it's great riding in weather like this.”

For some, this snow deters people from going outside, but for these cold adventurus, it didn’t freeze any of their plans.
