State board rejects property assessment appeal

Posted
A state board has rejected Douglas County's appeal of a property tax reassessment that will affect thousands of Omaha homeowners.

The Tax Equalization Review Commission ruled in favor of the state's plan that increases property valuation of those living west of 72nd Street by seven percent. The plan also decreases the valuation of those in northeast Omaha by eight percent.

The Douglas County Board is leaving open legal options to challenge the plan and may go to the state Appeals Court or state Supreme Court.
