Street to be renamed for Ty and Terri Schenzel

Community leaders plan to honor the a couple killed in a South Dakota crash, who founded the Hope Center for Kids, with a street naming Wednesday.

A portion of 20th Street, from Willis to Burdette, will be renamed for Ty and Terri Schenzel in a ceremony at 2:30 p.m. at the Hope Center for Kids (2200 N 20th St.).

“Ty and Terri Schenzel have created opportunities for thousands of Omaha youth, offered a path to a successful future and inspired the members, staff and community to continue his vision of Hope. Pastor Schenzel wanted to make an impact in our City. He certainly did,” Mayor Jean Stothert said in a statement.

The ceremony will be followed by a Hope Skate.
