OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Today, a fifth-grade teacher in Papillion returned to her classroom after a two-month absence due to cancer treatments. Little did she know, her students had something up their sleeves to welcome her back.

Many of the students and faculty members at Tara Heights Elementary wore pink. Their goal...to show their support for teacher Tereana Kerr and raise awareness about breast cancer.

The school's support brought Kerr to tears.

Her next step is to meet with her doctor to discuss a treatment plan. She did find out that she will not need chemotherapy though.
