Thanks to generous donations, 81-year-old knitting woman now has years worth of yarn

You may remember the story of 81-year-old Emmy Christiansen.  She knits 365 days a year.

Christiansen makes mittens, blankets and hats for those in need and donates them each holiday season.  This year she outdid herself and was almost out of her supply of donated yarn. She asked for help and you delivered.

Boxes and bags of yarn just kept coming.  First Anchor Emily Szink’s desk was covered, and then our station’s hallway became crowded.  It was time to show Christiansen the generosity of our community.

To say Christiansen was shocked is an understatement.  As her garage started to fill-up, so did this knitter’s heart.

“You could say this is overwhelming, but not for me, because you know I’m going to get after it, but it may take me a couple years,” said Christiansen.

Thanks to some 3 News Now viewers, Christmas for Christiansen came early this year.

“I am so grateful, this is wonderful, thank you Lord,” said Christiansen.
