An Omaha man faces five attempted murder counts following a shooting at a west Omaha bar Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Dwight L. Rodgers, 63, walked into Parliament Pub West (16939 Wright Plaza) just after 2 p.m. with a long gun, firing at the workers inside.

The shots shattered windows outside the bar and damaged the inside. Several witnesses were in neighboring businesses at the Shops at Legacy. Shops there locked down for a time before Rodgers sped off to a nearby apartment complex.

Police and Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies tracked him to an apartment complex at 15975 Wright Plaza. He held up in a first-floor apartment for about a half hour and fired at officers before surrendering.

Nearby schools and a daycare went on lockdown as officers blocked off the area.

No one was seriously hurt during either incident.

Police booked Rodgers on five counts of attempted murder, two counts of terroristic threats, seven weapons counts, and criminal mischief.
