MOBILE, Ala. (KMTV) - The USS Omaha (Littoral Combat Ship 12), successfully completed its acceptance trials in the Gulf of Mexico on May 12.
The trials required the ship to complete intense, comprehensive tests to demonstrate to the Navy the ships major systems and equipment could operate properly.
This is the last milestone for the ship before delivery, which is expected to be this summer.
"I am extremely proud to be a part of this talented team of men and women who achieved another major milestone in the LCS program," Austal, the Australian-based ship building company's USA president Craig Perciaville, said. "We are eager for Omaha to take her place in the fleet."
