The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the names of the three victims involved in a fatal accident near 180th and Blondo Street.
Robert J, Baker lll, 22, Patricia Padron, 21, and Jonathan Rodriguez, 24, who had been missing since late Saturday night, were found dead in a gray 2013 Chevrolet at the bottom of a nearby creek.
The Omaha Police Department’s helicopter spotted the pickup around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon nearly 100 feet from the road, in 1-2 feet of water along the creek.
Police say the vehicle had been traveling southbound on 180th Street, and crossed over Blondo Street in a T-intersection before driving through a cornfield and into the creek. It appears the vehicle struck some trees before it rolled down the bank. Police found no skid marks on the road to indicate that the driver tried to stop.
"There's no way anyone could have seen it from the road," said Captain Eric Sellers with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. "It would have taken some speed to get to that point."
Friends and family of Baker and Rodriguez was on the scene and were pretty certain it with their loved ones before officials confirmed the information.
