Drivers along 144th near Dodge and Pacific are seeing orange: cones blocking off the construction sites of the new West Farm/South Farm development and the infrastructure improvements along the street.
Already so much in the area has changed after Noddle Companies acquired the farm site from Boys Town in the beginning of this year.
Many of the older buildings are gone, but developer Jay Noddle says the plan is to keep some of the charm and authenticity.
"The silo, that's still standing," Noddle said. "And, we took the roof off the barn and we've salvaged the roof of the barn, we've salvaged all the barn wood to be reused in the project. We're really on schedule at the moment."
Noddle said the project is now in the grading phase, leveling the land for what's to come.
While the bulk of the project is expected to take place over a dozen or so years, in the coming seasons, expect construction to ramp up.
"By summer of next year, its very likely we'll have several building projects under way at once at different parts of the project," Noddle said.
"I think people will be able to work there, live there and have some fun there by the middle of 2020, so three years from now."
