An Omaha doctor is under fire by women who say he butchered them while performing cosmetic surgeries. Now, more than 14 medical malpractice lawsuits have been filed against D. Gerard Stanley Jr. of Sculpt Cosmetic Surgery. In August there were 7 complaints filed.
The lawsuits claim Dr. Stanley portrayed him as a board certified plastic or cosmetic surgeon at his business but botched liposuction, breast augmentation, and butt and eye lifts in the last two years.
Doctors do not have to be board certified in Nebraska to perform cosmetic surgeries.
3 News Now spoke with 5 of the women who said they're stuck with deformities that will cost thousands to repair, or can't be repaired at all. They say they hadn’t met each other before and agreed Dr. Stanley left them scarred and in pain.
“I have painful scarring around my sides for the rest of my life, my arm’s going to go numb for the rest of my life and there’s nothing that can be fixed about that,” said Nichole Dyer, a plaintiff. “I can’t do anything but cry. What can you do?”
All agreed his website led them to believe he was a board certified plastic surgeon.

3 News Now has only been able to confirm Doctor Stanley is board certified to practice family medicine and hasn't completed a surgery residency.
"To even know that he's still practicing on people now like he's still cutting people up probably right now as we speak. It's pretty terrible,” said Roberta Brown-Tipler, one of the plaintiffs.
Board certified plastic surgeons have since examined all the women.
Most can have surgery to repair the deformities, but they'll cost thousands of dollars. Others don't have the same outlook, or aren't sure if they want to go under the knife again.
"I can be fixed but I am terrified. I've already been told by a doctor I could've died on his table on his time,” another plaintiff explained.
Dr. Stanley’s attorney, Tom Shomaker, released a statement: “Dr. Gerard Stanley, Jr., is a qualified cosmetic surgeon, and he provided proper medical care to each of these patients. The claims against him arise out of the actions of a disgruntled employee who was fired from Dr. Stanley’s business. We feel that the District Court is the proper forum to adjudicate these matters, and these meritless claims will be totally rejected, and Dr. Stanley will be totally vindicated.”
