A 3-year-old boy was killed Tuesday morning in Louisville, Kentucky, after being attacked by his family's two dogs, police said.

Based on audio from the 911 call, it appears the boy fell out of a window into the family's yard, where the family's two Rottweilers attacked him, the Louisville Courier Journal reported.

He suffered fatal injuries in the attack.

The two dogs have been taken away by Louisville Metro Animal Services, according to Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell. Authorities haven't said what will happen to the dogs.

An investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed, police said.

"This is a very devastating thing that has happened here," Mitchell said during a press conference at the scene. "Obviously our prayers go out to the family of this child."
