Florida man parks Smart Car in kitchen, said he didn't want Hurricane Dorian to blow it away

Posted

Jess Ica and her husband Patrick Eldridge are among the thousands of families scrambling to prepare for Hurricane Dorian. The Jacksonville, Florida couple could face hurricane-force winds as the storm sweeps up the Atlantic coast.

That preparation includes parking their cars in a secure spot. According to Ica's Facebook page , the couple has a two-car garage and thee vehicles. With a sedan and a pickup truck in the garage, there wasn't any room for Eldridge's Smart Car.

On Facebook, Ica said her husband was concerned the Smart Car could blow away in the hurricane-force winds. Eldridge didn't want to test the car's less-than 2,000 pound frame against Dorian's 100 mph sustained winds.

But with no room in the garage, there was only one option to make sure the car was safe — the kitchen.

Apparently, the Smart Car was able to fit through the kitchen double doors in the couple's home.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Ica's Facebook post had 20,000 reactions and 63,000 shares.

Jacksonville will likely experience rain and wind from Dorian throughout the day on Wednesday.
