The race for votes in the Second Congressional District in Omaha intensifies with the election just four weeks away.
Campaign leaders for Hillary Clinton said Omaha should make a difference in this year’s Presidential election.
Hillary for Nebraska is fighting for one electoral vote out of Nebraska and have been knocking on doors and making calls to potential voters.
“We believe having that kind of grassroots presence in the state is what is going to help us win this congressional district,” said Hillary Clinton’s State Campaign Director, Marlon Marshall.
Marshall was in Omaha Monday after the Hillary for Nebraska office won a challenge to recruit volunteers.
Marshall said the campaign is working hard to get every voter behind former Secretary Clinton, and winning this district is a part of her plans.
“If you run the different scenarios of where she can get to 269 electoral votes, so if you get that one electoral vote, it could make her president of the United States.”
Marshall was going door to door talking to potential voters, and when rain halted door knocking, he took to the phones.
Marshall said the ground game is critical the next four weeks to get that face-to-face connection with voters.
“We have more offices, more staff, more volunteers, more of a presence and we believe in actually having one-on-one conversations with voters,” he said.
Volunteers said they want to help election.
“I just want everybody, realistically, to get on board for what is right and the change to come,” said volunteer Donita Smith.
Marshall said the campaign hopes millennials support Hillary Clinton by voting November 8th.
“What we have seen is, we believe there is a surge in turnout that can be higher than 2012 and we will see a large portion of the millennials apart of the voting population.”
Marshall also said there is nothing on the schedule to have Clinton’s campaign to come back to Omaha, but it would be great for any headliners to make another stop before Election Day.
