Harris announces mayoral bid to challenge Stothert in 2021

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Jasmine Harris announced on Tuesday that she will run for mayor of Omaha.

Harris is an Omaha native and says she has focused her career on public health, criminal justice reform and policy advocacy.

She currently serves as the Director of Public Policy and Advocacy at RISE, a prison reentry program. She has worked for RISE since 2017.

Harris will be running against Mayor Jean Stothert in the spring of 2021.

Harris says her priorities would be affordable housing, criminal justice reform and equitable investments in neighborhoods.

Stothert is running for her third term in 2021, having first been elected in 2013.
