March, 28th, 2014 marked the first ever national Laser Tag day, according to the museum of laser tag in in Louisville, Kentucky.

Monday Omahan kids off school for the day were ready to blast into action to celebrate at Alley V, where games were only a dollar.

"It's exciting, cause you don't know what's going to happen," Kaylee Natho said.

It's not America's past time, but it's a good time.  32 years ago, the original commercial laser tag system known as "Photon - the ultimate game on planet earth" held their grand opening in Mesquite, Texas. Since that first location opened over 4,000 laser tag attractions have opened around the world. By some industry standards laser tag is expected to strike out bowling when it comes to attraction style entertainment.

That's where national laser tag day came it. Sure it's a little bit marketing ploy.

"It's a day to promote our laser tag a little bit, what laser tag is, and how much fun it is to come out and have a good time," Jon Goerig with Alley V

It's also a time for laser lovers to cash in on some cheap time. At Alley V in West Omaha, kids like Aydian Meehan, 13, got to play nine minutes of tag for just a buck.

"I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I am pretty good."

To get good, all of these serious players strategize.

"I usually just hide in the corner and wait for someone to come near me," Meehan said.

"We kind of made an alliance before we went in," Taylor Hawkins said.

"I was just having fun with it," Kaylee Natho said.

No matter what the strategy, laser tag fans we spoke with did have one main tip.

"Calm down, because it is just a game," Meehan said.
