Henry the labradoodle is just one year old, but his owner Lianna Ng thinks he already has star power.

"Well he's good at walking. He loves attention. Those are probably the two main things," Ng said.

That star power is headed to the runway. Move over Omaha fashion week, for the first time this summer, Omaha furshion week will debut. Henry is ready. The actual furshion week will be the first week in June, culminating with several events in First Friday in Benson and a big fashion show June 4th.

The brain child of Leah Thrasher and Jeannie North of local start up Omaha dot dog, the fundraiser will pair pooches like Henry with designers.

"We hosted a contest for Omaha's top dog model last month, we picked 20 dog models the other day, and we have six designers but we are looking for more," North said.

Designers like Sierra Morris-Fuchs will make outfits for two pups.

"I just know there will be a lot of elastic, and a lot of costume touch-ups. Moving them around, they don't behave like normal models do," Morris-Fuchs said.

The hope is to raise a lot of money, $5 admission to events will be charged per dog. All proceeds will go towards buying dog waste stations and developing dog parks in Omaha. Most of all, all involved say, it's just fun to give dog lovers a chance to pause and celebrate their pooch.

"Maybe next year there can be a cat fashion show for cat lovers too," Ng said.
