The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday night that a tornado did touch down in Omaha earlier in the afternoon.

The first segment had a path of about two-thirds of a mile and was about 50 yards wide, according to the NWS.

The tornado was on the ground for about four minutes, from 3:43 p.m. to 3:47 p.m.

We expect more to details to emerge Thursday as the NWS gets more survey teams out to examine the aftermath of the storm.
