That's why KMTV Action 3 News is debuting the Mobile Threat Tracker, the latest tool for our five experienced meteorologist to keep you ahead of the storm.
Powered by industry-leading technology, such as VIPIR radar and StormShield, the Mobile Threat Tracker provides instant data for our team as they head into the storm.
With both cellular and satellite -based radar systems, the KMTV Weather Alert Team will know the exact location the storm is headed.
The Mobile Alert Threat Tracker also features three cameras to provide unique vantage points of the storm from both inside and outside the vehicle.
An infrared camera also allows meteorologists to monitor things like cloud rotation in dark conditions. This will allow viewers to better understand where the system is heading so you can stay safe.
A custom local weather station mounted on the roof, along with advanced lighting systems will allow the KMTV Weather Alert Team to not only track changes in temperature, wind speed and humidity, but also assess damage in areas where power may be be out.
