Windy conditions to last through Monday evening

The KMTV viewing area is under a Wind Advisory through 6 p.m. Monday.

Wind Advisory

Counties: Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont, Page, Washington, Douglas, Sarpy, Cass, Otoe, Knox, Cedar, Dodge, Monona, Thurston, Burt

Timing: Strong northwest winds will continue through this afternoon before diminishing by evening.

Winds: Northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around or over 45 mph.

Impacts: Winds of this magnitude will be hazardous to motorists, especially those with high profile vehicles. In addition, areas of blowing snow may create hazardous travel conditions in parts of the area

On Sunday, the NWS Omaha office received the following preliminary wind gust reports:

1:32 p.m. – Near Norfolk, 53 mph wind gust
1:46 p.m. – Offutt Air Force Base, 51 mph wind gust
2:53 p.m. – Falls City, 49 mph wind gust
2:55 p.m. – Near Wahoo, 49 mph wind gust
