The Maryland football team comes into the 2016 season under new Head Coach D.J. Durkin. Durkin was the defensive coordinator at Michigan last season.
Quarterback battle
Senior quarterbacks Perry Hills and Caleb Rowe return for the Terps this season, but neither quarterback had outstanding seasons last year. Freshman Tyrrell Pigrome could challenge the two seniors for the starting position. Pigrome is the former Gatorade Player of the Year.

With the departures of Ngakoue and Jefferson to the 2016 NFL Draft, Maryland will have some rebuilding to do on the front seven of the defense. Running back Wes Brown will serve a three game suspension, but once he returns, the Maryland running game will get a huge boost.
