Stephen Smith answered for Texas Tech as he drove in three runs in the bottom of the second inning, making the score 3-1.

Another error led to the Chanticleers driving in a couple more runs, putting them up 4-3 in the top of the third inning.

Coastal Carolina turned up the pressure in the top of the fifth, adding three runs worth of padding to their lead, putting the Chanticleers up 7-3.

A sacrifice fly with the bases loaded gave Texas Tech another run, cutting their deficit to just three in the bottom of the seventh.

After an RBI single that cut Coastal Carolina’s lead to just two in the bottom of the seventh, Bobby Holmes came in to pitch for the Chanticleers.

Before all was said and done, the fans had a little fun.

Coastal Carolina was too much for Texas Tech, edging the Red Raiders 7-5 and moving on to play tomorrow.
