Mississippi State superfan Terry Powell is quickly becoming a favorite 2018 College World Series personality.
On Tuesday, 3 News Now reporter Megan Stewart and photographer Steffani Nolte interviewed Powell about his team's enthusiasm during one of several CWS rain delays, and the humor resonated with fans of the team and of the CWS in general.
During the interview, Powell gave some very colorful examples of his dedication and the dedication of all Mississippi State fans to the team they love; as well as the team's focus on gameplay execution — and having fun.
Powell said that while he has 15 minutes of internet fame, he wanted to draw further attention to Alzheimer's research. Noting the fan who surprised his dad, also afflicted with Alzheimer's, with a special road trip to the CWS, Powell said he went through a similar situation with his mom after the 2013 College World Series.
Perhaps coincidentally, Nebraska Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is preparing for a special day of awareness tomorrow. From the organization's Facebook event post: "On the summer solstice, team up with the Alzheimer’s Association and select any activity you love — or an activity loved by those affected — to help end Alzheimer’s."
