Famous alumni from across the country have weighed in on their favorite college teams as the competition (and the weather) heats up in Omaha.

College World Series participants such as TCU and Oklahoma State have produced all sorts of Major League Baseball players and other notable alumni who used social media to cheer on their respective teams.

Perhaps none of those actively watching the College World Series are as prominent (or at least as prominently tweeting) as UC Santa Barbara alumnus Jim Rome, the host of "The Jim Rome Show."

Rome interviewed fellow Gaucho and former Colorado Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs, who watched UC Santa Barbara eliminate Miami on Monday. The interaction was worthwhile.

But Rome and Spilborghs are not the only prominent people enjoying the college baseball season. TCU alumnus Matt Carpenter, a third baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, apparently won a wager when the Horned Frogs advanced to Omaha.

Jake Arrieta, the 2015 NL Cy Young winner, also has enjoyed the TCU success.

Perhaps Arizona's most notable alumnus in baseball is the Cleveland Indians Terry Francona. Surprisingly, most MLB managers are not on Twitter. Actress Kristen Wiig also is a Wildcat, but she might be a bit preoccupied.
