The College World Series is less than a month away and some fans from West Omaha, Council Bluffs and Bellevue who like to take the shuttle buses may need to find another way to enjoy the games.
Metro said they are terminating the stadium express routes based on demand.
For CWS of Omaha marketing and event manager Joe Menaugh, he was shocked the service has ceased.
“We were definitely surprised that they stopped doing it,” said Menaugh.
According to Metro, ridership is down 70-percent since the first year the world series came to TD Ameritrade Park.
In 2011, over 16-thousand riders took the stadium express, that number last year plummeted to just under 5,000 riders.
“The decision metro made through their board and folks that said you know what, it's probably time for the service to stop and let fans utilize some of the other services,” said Menaugh.
Menaugh said they’ve had a partnership with Metro since 1994, and said the move to North Downtown with all this parking created less of a need for this service.
“Rosenblatt was essentially on an island in terms of its parking, the season ticket holder parking was at about 700 and now it's up to almost 1800-stalls just for season ticket holders and that's one lot,” said Menaugh.
A spokeswoman for Metro said this was a difficult decision but a business one.
