Creighton baseball continued its strong play so far this season, as the Bluejays swept the season series with Kansas State, winning Wednesday night, 8-3 final. The win also gave Ed Servais his 500th win at Creighton and extended the Jays winning streak to seven games.
CU jumped out to a hot start in the bottom of the 1st inning, as Will Robertson laced a triple down the right field line that scored two Jays. A Thomas Luevano RBI infield single the next batter gave Creighton a 3-0 lead after the 1st.
The Bluejays put up a five spot in the bottom of the 3rd inning to up their lead to 8-0. The Wildcats then scored three unanswered runs and had the bases loaded in the top of the 9th, but a Jonah Smith strikeout ended the game for Creighton.
CU improves to 17-6 this season. Next up, Creighton starts Big East play this weekend, as the Jays host Butler in the first game of a three-game set. First pitch for Friday's contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
