Creighton basketball has announced it's first few opening games of the 2016-17 season, and a few of the matchups are intriguing. Creighton opens up with an exhibition game against Wayne State Nov. 4 at the CenturyLink Center. Creighton head basketball coach Greg McDermott landed his first head coaching job at Wayne State from 1994-2000.
The regular season and home opener is set for Nov. 11th against the University of Missouri-Kansas City at the CenturyLink Center. The Bluejays have won 21-straight home openers and 18 of their last 19 season openers.
Creighton then hosts Wisconsin, which made it to the Sweet 16 in last seasons NCAA Tournament, in the Gavitt Tipoff Games.
The Bluejays then head to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam, where they open up against Washington State Nov. 18. Creighton then plays either Nov. 19 or Nov. 20, against Montana or NC State.
McDermott and company then return home for a stretch of games against Loyola on Nov. 26, Buffalo on Nov. 29, and Akron Dec. 3.
Creighton then seeks its sixth-straight win against in-state rival Nebraska at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
The Bluejays follow that up with two home non-conference opponents. Dec. 10, Creighton will take on Longwood, and Dec. 17 they take on Oral Roberts.
The final non-conference away game for Creighton is against Arizona State in Wells Fargo Arena.
