OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Creighton women's basketball team defeated in-state foe Nebraska 74-65 Sunday afternoon at DJ Sokol Arena.
With the win the Jays moved to 2-4 in 2018 while the Huskers droped to 2-5. The victory is Creighton's third-straight against Nebraska and the team's longest win streak in the 45 meetings between the two programs.
Creighton senior Audrey Faber had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Tatum Rembao tied a team-high with 18 points and Olivia Elger added 16 points.
Tatum Rembao entered the afternoon averaging 6.8 points per game, but the sophomore provided career-highs with 18 points and six assists. Bluejay teammate Audrey Faber attained her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Olivia Elger contributed 16 points.
"I thought both teams fought, it wasn't the prettiest game for sure," said Creighton Head Coach Jim Flanery. "But I thought our kids pushed through."
Sam Haiby led NU with 17 points, while Kate Cain scored 12. Junior Hannah Whitish went 1-10 shooting and the Huskers shot 2-22 from three-point range.
"It's a tough loss for our program and I credit Creighton for the offensive adjustments they made in the second half," said Nebraska Head Coach Amy Williams. "It's disappointing and we'll go back to the drawing board and find a way to bounce back."
The Jays will host UNO on Wednesday at 7 p.m. while the Huskers face Kansas Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
