Creighton women's basketball, the 11-seed in the Kansas City Region in the NCAA Tournament, upsets the 6-seed Iowa, 76-70 final, to advance to the second round. This is the second consecutive year Creighton has picked up a win in the NCAA Tournament.
CU's Sydney Lamberty hit a lay-up at the buzzer to end the first half to give Creighton a 34-31 lead at the break. The Bluejays then extended the lead to six, 56-50, after the third quarter. CU then held off the Hawkeyes in the 4th quarter to pull off the upset victory.
The Bluejays were led by a team-high 24 points from Jaylyn Agnew, who went 4 of 6 from three-point range for CU on Saturday afternoon. Lamberty, a senior guard, also added 20 points for the Jays.
Creighton advances to face the 3-seed UCLA on Monday. The Bruins are hosting the first and second round games in Los Angeles, CA.
