It appears Ryan Boldt made the right decision by turning down the MLB three years ago when he was selected by the Red Sox in the 22nd round. On Thursday night the Tampa Bay Rays made him the 53rd overall pick in the draft. It's a twenty round increase after three years of tearing it up on the college diamond.
At Nebraska Boldt showed off a brilliant glove. He also proved to be a very good top of the order bat. Boldt led the Huskers in runs scored each year of he played. He piled up 223 hits during his junior campaign and also landed on the Golden Spikes Midseason Watch List.
Boldt is the highest drafted Husker since Joba Chamberlain was taken 41st overall in 2006.
