The Husker baseball team is used to dealing with high expectations. It's very similar to what the football program deals with. There was a time when Nebraska was national championship caliber program. Those memories only fade, but they never truly disappear. This creates a fan base that craves a return to the mountain top.
When expectations are that high it's sometimes tough to take a step back and realize how much progress has really been made. Nebraska's trip to the tournament this season marks the second time they've qualified for regionals in the past three season. It's a sign of progress. It's a big step forward for a program that missed the tournament for five straight seasons before the recent revival.
Head Coach Darin Erstad understands the expectations. He even likes the expectations. However, he believes it's important to recognize that the team is on the right trajectory heading into this weekend's regional at Clemson.
