Nebraska baseball raced out to an early lead and never looked back, picking up a 9-3 win in game number two of the weekend set against Rutgers Saturday afternoon at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

NU scored in the bottom of the first, when Ben Miller hit an RBI single bringing home Angelo Altavilla.  The Husker added another run in the bottom of the third, when a Rutgers' fielding error on shortstop Kevin Welsh allowed Jake Meyers to cross the plate.

And Nebraska broke open the game in the bottom of the fourth. The Huskers added five runs in the frame to open up a 7-0 lead over the Scarlet Knights.

Senior righthander Derek Burkamper made the start on the mound for NU Saturday afternoon, improving to 4-4 this season after striking out five in 6.1 innings of work.

Nebraska now improves to 28-16-1 overall and 11-5-1 in Big Ten play.  The two clubs wrap up the weekend series Sunday afternoon at 12:05 p.m.
