OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez was named to the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team on January 7.
He was one of two quarterbacks. The other is Clemson's signal caller Trevor Lawrence.
Martinez ranked 12th offensively and led all freshmen with his 295.1 yards per game average this season. He is the sixth quarterback since 1990 to average 200 yards passing and 50 yards rushing per game.
His selection makes the second straight year a Nebraska player made the freshman All-America team. Wide receiver JD Spielman was selected last year.
