The Blackshirts are more than just a color of a practice uniform. The group is an identity for the team and a symbol for tough-nosed blue-collar football.
But after losing by 46 on the road, the group is in the midst of an identity crisis.
"We still have to play with the same confidence and swagger that a Blackshirt would and what happened on Saturday is never acceptable but at the end of the day we still have to be Blackshirts Saturday and we can't let one game like that completely alter the way we play and think of ourselves," said senior captain Luke Gifford.
The Huskers host Purdue on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
