Nebraska has fired head coach Mike Riley after three seasons. Former players, coaches, and college football analysts took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on this morning's news.
Here are some of the highlights:
Thank you Coach Riley for never giving up on me and giving me the opportunity to play at the next level. You are truly a second father-figure to me. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you! #GBR pic.twitter.com/3A24PXPb65

Thank you Coach Riley for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime! You are an incredible man and an even better coach. Would have been a dream to play for you! God bless you and your family! pic.twitter.com/xgJZDsjQXd

Unfortunately it's about winning and not how good of a person these coaches are. Sometimes they don't even get a chance to prove themselves #GBR

To those that supported @Coach_Riley and the team with pride and class until the very end, you are the greatest fans in America.
Thank you.

You were one of the first that gave me an opportunity to play at the Division 1 level..
You believed in me, and for that, I️ thank you. The most real, Genuine, person I've ever gotten the opportunity to meet.
It was a pleasure Coach Riley.

Thank you @Coach_Riley. You took us from a coach that couldn't keep his mouth shut to a man that I will always respect, no matter how poor the team does. You knew what was said about you but you just kept doing your job. I appreciate you. I do not know a man like you. Thanks

Btw, other college football thoughts.
I get that Nebraska had to do what they had to do. But I derive no joy from seeing Mike Riley get fired. A coach universally considered a class act.
Chip Kelly and UCLA feels like a really good fit for both school and coach.

$4.17 million: What Nebraska will pay combined, as of now, for Bo Pelini & Mike Riley NOT TO COACH over the next 14 months. Can be reduced with Pelini raises & Riley getting new job.

.@Coach_Riley IT'S A TRAP MIKE IT'S A TRAP

Much respect to Mike Riley, who handled an untenable situation with the utmost class and dignity.

I know that it's been a brutal season.....but I don't know why we feel so good about a guy losing his job...I feel bad for Mike Riley right now.

After losing 56-14 to Iowa I couldn't help but think about what Keyshawn Johnson said earlier this week, pertaining to his son and if Mike Riley is let go. My thoughts are, I'm sure Keyshawn will do what's best for his family and the #Huskers need to do what's best for Nebraska!
