Creighton (8-3-2) hosted St. John's (6-3-5) this afternoon for a BIG EAST match up. The Bluejays' offense and defense held true today, it started with goalkeeper McKenzie Meola's seven saves in the opening five minutes of play. Shortly after Kaira Houser put Creighton on the board with a goal assisted by Hannah Miller. Creighton went into halftime with a 1-0 lead despite St. John's having a 6-3 edge on shots during the first period. In the second half Lauren Sullivan scored her 10th goal in her last eight matches giving Creighton a 2-0 win over St. John's.
Sullivan's goal against St. John's she is third for goals scored in Creighton history with 31 in her career.
Meloa posted her second consecutive shutout, facing 13 shots by St. John's and making seven saves.
Creighton is on the road this week, returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 against Providence.
