Former Huskers players inspiring current Nebraska football team

It's the video that's making the rounds across Husker Nation. Former Blackshirts Jason Peter and Grant Wistrom spoke to the Nebraska football team last week and the legends message to the program has inspired fans in the days since.

Head coach Scott Frost has had a handful of former Huskers talk to the current squad this fall camp and there's a theme he wants them to take note of.

"The message is the same," said Frost. "When you are a part of this Nebraska brotherhood you're not just playing for yourself or your team you are playing for all of the guys that came before or after you. I want that connection to be back."

Peter and Wistrom spoke to the whole Huskers program first, before solely speaking to the defense. Since their lecture, players said the defense has played with a different intensity.

"Everybody was really pumped having those two guys in there," said senior offensive guard Tanner Farmer. "They're legends, they're great guys, they're some of the best guys to come through anywhere. They are just amazing and I could tell the defense took a lot of energy from them and they really enjoyed it and came in hard the next few days and they're continuing to come hard."

The Huskers start the 2018 season in under two weeks when Nebraska hosts Akron at Memorial Stadium on September 1.
