When Nebraska takes on Illinois Saturday morning there will be a familiar face lining up behind center for the opposing team.
The Illini's quarterback is AJ Bush, a former Nebraska quarterback. The former Husker left Lincoln in 2016 and spent time at Iowa Western and Virginia Tech before making his way to Champaign.
"AJ helped recruit me here, he was my host when I visited," said junior linebacker Mohamed Barry. "He was a big reason why I came here."
"AJ is a great guy, it was hard to see when he left but I knew he was going to do big things," said senior captain Jerald Foster. "I'm happy that he's finally able to come back to the stadium, him being on the other side of the ball."
"He's still my brother, I still love him, he's still a great kid," said senior captain Tanner Farmer. "But this weekend I plan on kicking their butt."
The Huskers and Illini square off at 11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium.
