Huskers' Offense Prepares For Different Defense

Posted

The 3-4 defense.  It's a little unusual to see in the college game, but it's what the Huskers will face this Saturday when they kick off their 2016 campaign against Fresno State.  The Bulldogs only play with three down linemen as opposed to the usual four that many teams utilize.

But offensive coordinator, Danny Langsdorf, isn't too worried. He knows that Big Red has had a lot of time to prepare for the challenge.

"I'm not nearly as concerned about as I would be if we had been going against four down teams for a month and then all of sudden go back to a 3-4," Langsdorf said. "So I think we'll be fine."

Langsdorf will have a change of scenery this year, as he and offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh will head upstairs to the press box for a different perspective on Nebraska's offense.

This is something Langsdorf is very comfortable doing.  He and Cavanaugh have done this in the past for Mike Riley's staff.

"I think we just felt that at this stage for our team, it was good for Cav and I to go upstairs and get a good look at was happening on the field," Langsdorf said.

Once again, the Huskers host Fresno State this Saturday night at 7 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium. The game is being televised on the Big Ten Network.
