It's no secret, the Huskers have been banged up for a couple of weeks now. Many thought the bye week would help the team get healthy, but some injuries lingered through the Indiana game. Here's an update:

Riley said left tackle Nick Gates has a badly hurt ankle, but was proud of the way he battled through it in the Indiana game. David Knevel went down on the Huskers' first play from scrimmage with an ankle injury. He said if both Gates and Knevel are out, Sam Hahn might step in. Both Gates and Knevel are questionable.

Riley said running back Devine Ozigbo had a couple of good days of practice at the end of last week which led the staff to bring him on the road trip to Indiana. He said Ozigbo did not play as much because the preparation was not as thorough. Riley fully expects Ozigbo to play against Purdue.

Jordan Westerkamp has been out with a back injury since the Illinois injury. Riley said Westerkamp is hovering between doubtful and healthy for the matchup with Purdue. He said Westerkamp has been running in the therapy pool and improving daily.

Cethan Carter has also been out with a shoulder injury since the game against Illinois. Riley said he will not be able to play against Purdue, but that he's getting closer to making a return to the field.

Tommy Armstrong was seen in a walking boot during the bye week and questions about his health were raised following the game against Indiana. Riley said before the game last week, he thought Armstrong looked like he was healthy. Riley said following the game, Armstrong was sore and icing his injuries, but fully expects him to play against Purdue.
