Penn State leads Nebraska 42-10 at halftime, and it did not take long for Penn State to get its running game going against Nebraska.
On the third play of the game, Saquon Barkley bursted through the line for a 65-yard touchdown to give the Nittany Lions seven point lead 57 seconds into the game.
Nebraska used a burst of its own, though to take a brief 10-7 lead. First, Drew Brown kicked a 27-yard field goal after the Huskers took over in Penn State territory after recovering a punt that hit a PSU player. Three minutes later, Devine Ozigbo had a 1-yard touchdown run to finish off a three play, 36-yard drive that began after a shanked punt.
However, it was too much Barkley in the first half. He finished with 142 yards on 14 carries and added two more touchdowns, including one to give PSU the lead late in the first quarter.
Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley added three total touchdowns himself, two passing and one running. He threw for 259 yards in the first half.
Overall, Penn State outgained Nebraska 439-77.
