Scott Frost, players speak after emotional win on senior day

Posted

Nebraska came away with an emotional 9-6 win over Michigan State Saturday afternoon on senior day.

While the Huskers' offense struggled with the conditions and a stout Michigan State defense, Scott Frost notices the differences between the team now and the team at the beginning of the season.

"I told the guys in the locker room, from a culture stand point, pretty much from everything I guess. If the team could have started the season where it is right now, that would have been a fun year," Frost said. "But some of the growing pains we had to go through I think were necessary."

Frost said he wished he could have put together a better full season for this year's seniors that were honored at Memorial Stadium this afternoon.

"I'm crushed for the seniors that we couldn't have gotten that done quicker," Frost said. "But this team's been through so much and to be where it is right now and have the second half of the season that it's been having...it makes it really special."

Both the Huskers and Michigan State wore their emotions on their sleeves all afternoon. Frost said he wants to see more of that out of his team.

"I think we need to play with more emotion," Frost said. "Having the inspiration of playing for some of these guys I think added to our emotion, and to our energy and that might have been the difference."
