Seven Nebraska football players earned Blackshirts before Monday's practice.
Luke Gifford, Mick Stoltenberg, Freedom Akinmoladun, Mo Barry, Dedrick Young, Tyrin Ferguson & DiCaprio Bootle all donned the famous practice jerseys before the first workout following the Colorado game.
"It was awesome," said Stoltenberg. "The guys that got it I think earned it definitely. For the rest of the guys to get it I think we just need to continue to put a good product on the field and obviously come out with some wins."
"The goal is to win the game," Gifford said. "That's what needs to be done but we did a lot of good things and played like Blackshirts."
"We want the Blackshirt to mean something," head coach Scott Frost said. "I told the guys in the meeting this morning I was proud of the effort, the physicality. We had a lot of guys on defense that I think played well enough to earn Blackshirts. We're just not going to give them all out at once."
