For the sixth straight time, Nebraska softball got the better of in-state rival Creighton, as the Huskers beat the Bluejays, 6-2 on Wednesday night at Bowlin Stadium. Nebraska improves to 21-9 overall this season, while Creighton drops to 11-10 overall.
The Huskers got the scoring going early on Wednesday, notching two runs in the first. The Bluejays answered back and got on the board thanks to an RBI double from Jayci McGill in the top of the fourth inning.
But in the sixth, NU's Madi Unzicker blasted a two-run home run to put the game out of reach. Unzicker went 2-for-4 in the game, with one homer and three RBIs.
Both Nebraska and Creighton start conference play next. The Huskers host Michigan State this weekend in Lincoln, while the Bluejays travel to face St. John's.
