On Super Bowl Sunday, Nebraska women's basketball hosted No. 11 Maryland in the Big Red's biggest game of the regular season with first place in the Big Ten on the line. The Huskers competed with the Terrapins, but ultimately fell, 64-57 inside Pinnacle Bank Arena.
NU never led in Sunday's match-up against Maryland. But trailing by as many as 12 points in the 4th quarter, the Huskers kept it close til the final whistle, cutting the lead to as little as 5 points.
Taylor Kissinger led the way for Nebraska, finishing with a team-high 18 points. But Kissinger was the only Husker in double figures Sunday; her fellow freshman, Kate Cain, posted 8 points.
Nebraska had its five-game winning streak snapped with the loss to Maryland and falls to 17-7 overall this season and 8-3 in Big Ten play. The Big Red now sits in a tie for second place in the conference standings with Ohio State.
The Huskers have a week off before hosting Wisconsin at Pinnacle Bank Arena next Sunday at 2 p.m.
