Nebraska women's basketball falls to Maryland 81-63

LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — The Nebraska women's basketball team lost to No. 9 Maryland 81-63 Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Junior guards Nicea Eliely and Hannah Whitish led NU with nine points. Freshman Sam Haiby scored eight while senior Maddie Simon, sophomore Taylor Kissinger and freshman Ashtyn Veerbeek each had six. Sophomore Kate Cain scored five points and had a team-high ten rebounds and six blocks.

With the loss Nebraska dropped to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play. Maryland improved to 14-1 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten. The win was Coach Brenda Frese's 500th career victory.

Nebraska will be back on the court Sunday afternoon to take on Rutgers in Lincoln. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
